The Household Cash Map is for money that will not fit on a single payday line. Over as long as three hours we place every source, every fixed obligation, and every place money waits onto one sheet, so later monthly reviews have a map to point at.

Who it is for
Households with more than one earner, a provision shop or stall, rubber income that arrives in a clump, remittances, or a parent who receives a monthly allowance from the same purse.
What you leave with
A large sheet you take home, showing sources, obligations, and waiting-places. Monthly reviews after this sitting refer to the map instead of starting from scratch.
Inside the hour
- A drawn map of income sources and the weeks they arrive
- Fixed obligations with their real due dates
- Waiting-places: bank, cooperative share, gold shop, tin, envelope, and any ringgit held aside
- A note of which adult may move each amount
- Time for disagreement; the map is not finished until the adults in the room accept the lines
Handled by other trades
- Valuing a house, a pickup, or a rubber plot
- Merging finances that the adults do not want merged
- The monthly review itself, which is booked separately once the map exists
Who sits with you
Wichai Saelim draws the cash maps. He came from a savings-cooperative desk and is used to sheets with several names on them.
The course of the sitting
- Sources Each way money enters is given a name and a rough rhythm: monthly salary, daily stall, seasonal rubber, a transfer from Yala or Kelantan.
- Obligations Rent, suppliers, school, medicine, family support, and loan instalments already agreed are placed on the weeks they actually fall.
- Waiting-places We mark where money sits between arrival and use. A drawer that holds both Saturday takings and the electric bill is drawn as a tangle, then split.
- Who may move it Each amount is given the name of the adult who can spend or transfer it. Shared amounts are marked as shared.
Before you come
- Ask every adult who contributes to be present for at least the first hour
- Bring a rough list of what is owed to suppliers and what is already promised to family
- Seasonal earners should bring a note of the last heavy month and the last quiet month
Limits we keep
- The map describes the household that is in the room. Absent earners are marked as unknown rather than guessed.
- A map can run long. We stop at three hours and book a continuation rather than rushing the last names.
- Ringgit and baht are kept on separate lines when both are in use.
The fee is 3,600 baht, per map, settled at the office. Figures for every sitting are also set out on the fees page.
